Anna has a Bachelor of Design in Fashion and has worked in the quilting, textile art and sustainable fashion industry for a long time. She has exhibited work nationally and internationally, teaches many types of textile classes and has experience designing and curating quilting exhibitions as well as producing fashion shows.
Anna is a sustainable textile artist who loves getting inspired by waste fabrics and creating textile art & sustainable fashion pieces. She holds a Bachelor of Design in Fashion & is a passionate advocate for the health benefits of creativity. Anna spends her time creating, teaching, speaking and is always learning something new.
Anna teaches art quilting classes that are inspired by traditional but use modern techniques to make things easier. All classes have a focus on understanding the design elements & how to use them (or ignore them) in quilting; especially colour, value, line & movement. Most classes are inspired by using up quilting scraps and other textile waste.
The class motto is always: 'Imperfections are proof it was handmade.'

I have been a quilter for 30+ years and have been avidly involved in Symposiums, Aotearoa Quilters and Christchurch Quilters. I have exhibited throughout New Zealand and Australia as well as the United States and Canada. I appreciate all forms of quilting although mainly do contemporary work myself. When I judge I look at design, colour, workmanship and overall impact of the work and credit myself with ensuring each quilt receives a full assessment of the above before awarding any prizes etc.

Charlotte is a quilter and textile artist. She is deeply inspired by the unique flora and fauna of NZ and by trying to capture the distinctive colours that surround her. Charlotte colours her own cloth with dye or paint, then cuts, layers and quilts. She is also a teacher, writer, speaker, quilt judge, blogger and podcaster.
My classes have a focus on working with silk organza - from colouring it with dye or paint, using it in applique or whole cloth overlays.
I also teach botanical printing, fabric dyeing and positive/negative applique.
Classes evolve and new classes are developed regularly, so please contact me.
I am regularly asked to judge quilt shows within New Zealand.
I completed the quilt judging skills seminar by Jeannie M. Spears in 2007. I have an Advanced diploma and Graduate diploma in Visual art and a Certificate in Maori art specialising in raranga (flax weaving).
I live in Wellington, New Zealand and I teach a range of quilting and surface design classes for groups, quilt shops and for Toi Whakaari, the National Drama School. My classes include machine quilting, sashiko and boro stitching, fabric dyeing, painting and printing, improvisational piecing and bojagi (Korean inspired piecing).
